Barcelona have made another attempt to secure a contract with Argentine striker Lionel Messi. The 34-year-old Argentinian is a free agent.
According to Mundo Deportivo with reference to La Portería, the general director of the Catalan club Ferran Reverter, after the announcement of the breakup and negotiations with the footballer, made him a new offer to stay at the club. The terms of the possible deal, as well as the attitude of Messi himself, have not been reported.
On August 5, Barcelona announced that due to structural and financial constraints from La Liga, they will not be able to sign a new contract with Lionel Messi. The Argentinian has been a free agent since July 1, but it was known that he agreed with the Catalan club to extend the employment contract, agreeing to a 50% reduction in wages. However, even this did not help the blue garnet fit into the financial fair play set by the Spanish league.
On August 8, Messi held a farewell press conference, at which, among other things, he confirmed information about the negotiations on the conclusion of a contract with PSG.
