Regulation Euro 2020 (2021)
Teams of 24 countries participate in the European Championship. Teams are divided into 6 groups – 4 in each. In the group stage, each team plays with other group members. The 1st and 2nd place teams in their quartets, as well as the top 4 teams from 3rd place, will advance to the playoffs. If all indicators turn out to be equal, and the face-to-face meeting in the third round ends in a draw, the teams carry out a series of penalties.
Starting from the 1/8 finals stage, the participants play according to the Olympic system. Teams play one match, and the losers are eliminated. In the case of a draw in regular time, two additional halves of 15 minutes are assigned. If it was still not possible to identify the winner, a series of penalty kicks is assigned.
