The proposed bill for the licensing and placement of slot machines in Chile, which has been approved and passed by the Senate, has now been referred to the Chamber of Deputies. The document contains an initiative to ban the installation of slot machines outside the casino.
There is also a possible punishment for violating the restrictions – it can be fines in the region of 15 thousand in dollar equivalent and even imprisonment.
In addition to questions about where it will be possible to place slot machines and where it won’t, the bill proposes to introduce full licensing of all slot machines installed in gambling establishments. The regulator will give operators six months for this, as soon as the law comes into force.
Recall that the Chilean government began preparations for the legalization of online gambling in February 2021.
We also note that at the end of May, the Chilean regulator resumed accepting applications for casino licenses.
