Dutch poker player and field hockey star Fatima Moreira de Melo has left the team of ambassadors of PokerStars. Moreira did not announce her retirement, as contrasted with her teammates. Her photo is now missing on the PokerStars Team Pro webpage. Her dismissal was confirmed.
In the Netherlands, Moreira is a big celebrity and was one of the many sports stars who became ambassadors of PokerStars, along with Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Boris Becker, Usain Bolt and Rafa Nadal.
Fatima got a contract with PokerStars in 2009 and since this time she has “outlived” a bunch of sports professionals for the duration of the contract.
Fatima wrote about the completion of cooperation with PokerStars on her Instagram, where she said that she says goodbye to PokerStars, but does not say goodbye to the game itself.
Fatima has never been an ardent online poker player, because her lifestyle implied a lot of travelling and communication with the public. Thus, her hendonmob account reflects the real picture of her poker career.
A few facts about Fatima’s poker career:
- The total amount of winning money for 10 years of her career is $ 577,000 (according to official figures).
- The maximum prize was $ 95,750 for the 2nd place in the Main Event of the UKIPT Series (2013).
- She won money in poker in 15 different countries, including Russia (October EPT Open 2019).
Only once Fatima took the 1st place in an offline poker tournament – this happened in 2017 at the PokerStars Championship series (Bahamas), in a women’s event for $ 660 with 24 participants.
Fatima Moreira de Melo has represented the poker room for 11 years. After her departure, 16 participants remained in the team of ambassadors. The most famous of them are Chris Moneymaker, Lex Veldhus and Andre Accari.
